How do humans coexist with one another?
What does the future look like today—and what are we willing to expose about it in the present?
The exhibition Exposing the Future is currently on view at Mestna galerija Nova Gorica, presenting six contemporary artistic positions—three from Slovenia and three from Austria—that critically reflect on the concept of the future and the ethical, social, and existential questions it raises.
Participating artists from Slovenia are Maša Jazbec Mikkel, Eva Petrič, and Paola Korošec.From Austria, the exhibition features Maria Grün, Sissa Micheli, and Thomas Riess.
Curated by Milena Koren Božiček and Tanja Prusnik, Exposing the Future is conceived as a three-part international exhibition project. Following its first presentation in Velenje, Slovenia (Galerija Velenje), the exhibition is now presented in Nova Gorica, and will continue in Vienna, unfolding across two consecutive years.
The exhibition investigates how contemporary art can act as a tool for examining future-oriented thinking, asking artists to consider which aspects of the future deserve visibility today—and why.
Among the works on view are two video–audio pieces, Holes in Light and I Want to Be Human, as well as the site-specific installation 1 + 1 = 3. The video works include original music composed in collaboration with Hayato Nakao, whose sound compositions form an integral emotional and conceptual layer of the pieces.

Exposing the Future will remain on view until February 26, with a catalogue presentation scheduled for February 4. The exhibition is accompanied by public programs and continues an ongoing cross-border dialogue between Austrian and Slovenian contemporary art practices.
My sincere thanks go to the excellent technical team of Mestna galerija Nova Gorica, especially Ms. Pavla Jarc, Director of the gallery; to all the wonderful participating artists; and, last but not least, to Milena Koren Božiček for the kind invitation to take part, as well as to her and Tanja Prusnik for their dedication and organization of this complex project.
Thank you also to my collaborator, musician Hayato Nakao, for his remarkable music, which forms the soul of my video works.
