Conduit@Empathy1

My 6m sculpture, collaboration with SPACE-SI, serves as a medium between the NEMO HD satellite and the people in Kenya for better management of water systems - presented at the UNECE MoP10 Water Convention in Ljubljana.

I'm honored that my art sculpture Conduit@Empathy1 was a part of the international MoP10 WATER CONVENTION hosted this year by Slovenia, which concluded yesterday. It was attended by representatives of 80 countries who engaged in tackling the problematic issues of our collective resource - one that we are all dependent upon, the substance of life & Earth, Earth’s life force, WATER.

My hope is to help, with the presence of art, to accelerate the implementation of already existing knowledge, as well as new knowledge in technology that will evolve for the well-being of people and our planet. We are all a part of the web of life; if one thread tears, all the threads resonate...

My Conduit@Empathy1 - medium between NEMO HD satellite and our human view, surpassing micro and macro view to enable the overview effect... evolving from my collaboration with SPACE-SI, Slovenian Center of Excellence for Space Sciences and Technologies.

The presentation of a part of the control room for NEMO HD satellite developed and managed by SPACE-SI.

With Ms. Tanja Fajon, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, and Dr. Tomaž Rodič, Director of SPACE-SI, presenting the Conduit@Empathy1 as a medium for disseminating science results to the public through the language of art.

Presenting the project to Dr. Danilo Tuerk, former President of Slovenia and the initiator of Water Conventions.

I’m excited to share that my Conduit@Empathy1, after being presented at the international water convention, will be given over to Kenya. There it will remain permanently and help to further upgrade the communication with the NEMO satellite of SPACE-SI, helping to prevent further floods in Kenya with its imagery and foretelling of possible flooding, famine, and other environmental disasters.

With the researchers from Jomo Kenyatta University for Agriculture and Technology who will take care and make use of my Conduit@Empathy at the JKUAT campus in Nairobi.

I'm honored that my art has become an integral part of SPACE-SI's missions, connecting satellite and digital technologies in an end-to-end manner for better water environment and climate conditions.

My thanks to Prof. Tomaž Rodic, director of SPACE-SI, and his team for the invitation to collaborate and for their support and help in realizing this project.

I’m excited that Conduit@Empathy1 will find its home in Nairobi - Kenya, and will be in the care of the Jomo Kenyatta University team.

Conduit@Empathy1 officially handed over to Kenya!

We are all a part of the web of life. If one thread tears, all the threads resonate...

Conduit@Empathy is a 6-meter sculpture that aims to bridge the gap between satellite-acquired ecological data and public experience, acting as an educational tool for local communities. Inspired by my Earthling sculpture, it symbolizes interconnectedness from cellular to planetary levels, using Idrija lace patterns to represent the web of life. It highlights humanity’s role in nurturing empathy and responsibility for the future.

The sculpture, blending ancient and futuristic elements, emphasizes that humans are conduits of energy expressed as emotions, inspired by Tesla's idea of wireless energy transmission. Equipped with SPACE-SI technologies, it promotes empathy and environmental awareness by combining scientific data with emotional understanding through art.

With thanks to Ivan Klarič, Alenka Slavinec, and Ludvik Rodič for the photos that I used here, as well as to ArtEO for the satellite photo of Nairobi on which my Conduit@Empathy stood at the Kupola hall of Ljubljana's Exhibition Centre.
