Thanks to all who joined the Bird of Hope for Peace on its mission in New York. At the public space of Art&Architecture Conservancy at 619 Lexington Avenue, close to the UN headquarters, the Bird of Hope for Peace will remain till July 31.
Thank you to all who joined us last night for the opening of Bird of Hope for Peace at the Narthex Gallery of Saint Peter’s in New York City—an exhibition that also celebrates NYC’s longest-running public arts program.
After being shown in Idrija, Slovenia, and Vienna, Austria, Bird of Hope for Peace continues its mission of sharing hope and peace, now in New York City, where it has found its temporary home at the Narthex Gallery through July 31.

You are warmly invited to visit the exhibition Monday–Sunday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, at the Arts and Architecture Conservancy at Saint Peter’s Narthex Gallery, 619 Lexington Avenue, New York.

Presented by The Arts and Architecture Conservancy at Saint Peter’s, Bird of Hope for Peace is an interdisciplinary installation by Eva Petrič, created from nearly one thousand handmade Lace Roses of Hope. Made by over 5 hundred lacemakers from eleven countries in collaboration with the Idrija Lace School and the Idrija Tourist Board, these recycled lace roses were donated during the Idrija Lace Festival 2024 to form a collective artwork.
At the site of the former WW II concentration camp at Ljubelj/Loibl Pass, an outpost of Mauthausen, Eva Petrič transformed these roses into a stylized bird in a performative act of remembrance and hope.

Accompanied by photographs and a 10-minute video featuring the roses and the names of their makers, the installation becomes a collective call for peace, empathy, and shared humanity.

Heartfelt thanks to Vince Carr, Reverend Jared R. Stahler, Rebekah Thornhill, Bernadette Castro, the Mayor of Idrija, the Municipality of Idrija, and everyone who contributed their beautiful lace and support.
Short video of the Bird of Hope for Peace art intervention at St.Peter's Art&Architecture Conservancy in New York is here:

In New York—the city where the United Nations gathers representatives from around the world—Bird of Hope for Peace offers a fragile yet powerful image of collective hope. Formed from hundreds of handmade lace roses, the work reflects the idea that peace, like lace itself, is created through the patient interweaving of many individual threads.
