About the event
Presented by The Arts and Architecture Conservancy at Saint Peter’s, Bird of Hope for Peace is an interdisciplinary installation by Eva Petrič centered on nearly one thousand handmade lace Roses of Hope. Created by lacemakers in eleven countries in collaboration with the Idrija Lace School and the Idrija Tourist Board, the recycled lace roses were donated to Eva Petrič during the Idrija Lace Festival 2024.In a performative action at the site of the former concentration camp at Ljubelj-Loibel pass, the outpost of Mauthausen, Eva Petrič transformed almost one thousand lace roses of hope into a stylized bird. Accompanied by photographs of the performative action and a 10-minute video weaving together images of the roses and the names of their makers, the installation unfolds as a collective call for peace, empathy, and shared humanity.
