Only three days later, another kind of journey brings together threads, hands and places.

I warmly invite you to the presentation of my new permanent installation Collective Solar Song, created in honour of the 800th anniversary of the Canticle of the Sun by St. Francis of Assisi.

The installation is made from lace donated by people from both Gorizias — Slovenia and Italy — and their surrounding regions. Lace from both sides of the Slovenian–Italian border comes together into a shared fabric of memory, touch and time: traces of hands that may never have met, but touch here. 

Extending through the space like a diagonal cross and a ray of sunlight, the work does not understand the border as an ending. It passes through, circles and connects. 

Perhaps a ray of sunlight knows no borders.

We all share the same ray of sunlight.

The presentation of my work through the words of wonderful artist and friend Klavdij Tutta, whose  art collection the Victory of Light adorns the 400 years old Franciscan Monastery, will be followed by a conversation with me, moderated by Mirjam Brecelj.
