At the Conference of the Alliance Against Trafficking of Persons, the segment "Voices of Victims Through Art" will feature the video SURRaGATE LANDSCAPES by Eva Petric, created in February 2025. This powerful visual narrative explores the psychological traumas of a displaced individual, illustrating how the experience of forced separation, trafficking, and exploitation can leave a person adrift in surrogate landscapes, disconnected from their past, and struggling to reclaim their identity in a surrogate life.

The video contributes to the broader discussion on child trafficking, emphasizing the profound emotional and psychological impact on victims. It serves as a reminder of the urgent need for survivor-centered approaches, reinforcing the importance of corporate responsibility, law enforcement engagement, and ethical business practices in combating trafficking.

By integrating artistic expression into the discourse on traffickingSURRaGATE LANDSCAPES brings a unique perspective that complements the conference’s objectives—raising awareness, inspiring action, and fostering collaborative solutions to protect vulnerable individuals, particularly minors. The session underscores the human cost of trafficking, urging stakeholders to go beyond policy discussions and recognize the deep scars left on survivors, while exploring pathways for healing, empowerment, and justice.

Thursday, April 3 from 18.00 - 20.00, Galerie V und V, AM Bauernmarkt 19. 1010 Vienna:

Kindly invited to the presentation of my "art to wear" jewlery series Compass:

ree

Eva Petrič's jewelry series, Compass, is an extension of her art project Gr@y Matter – The Language of Shadows, in which she explores the communicative power of shadows. The jewelry collection Compass embodies a transformation of photography into laces - specifically, the author's shadow image Earthling from her Periodic Table of Shadowed Emotions, which is hand-engraved onto pieces of crystal sourced from antique shops and flea markets from around the world. These unique pendants are set in recycled rosaries, replacing the traditional cross with prisms that catch and reflect light, guiding us - regardless of religion - toward illumination. Like a compass marked by imprints and scratches of the past, they are reactivated by the present, seamlessly bridging heritage with contemporary meaning.

Compass series was selected among the finalists of the Austria Eligius Schmuckpreis 2016.

The Compass series contains hand engraved images of the Earthling (the Stem Cell), translated from Eva Petrič’s  Shadows&Puppets image into Idrija lace and caught into an antique piece of crystal. Hung from recycled rosaries it reflects the past and at the same time leads into the future.

Hoping to meet you at one or all of these events,

Eva
