My art in February 2022

spanning from the underground to the cosmos: from Vienna's subway to the International Space Station.

My Art in February: reaching from the underground, from Vienna's Subway Karlsplatz passage, into space, to the International Space Station, with still going-on events on ground - at the St. Stephan's Cathedral in Vienna and the Gallery Gong in Nova Gorica, Slovenia.

I am thrilled to announce that my Earthling Tattoo Seal in its 1 cm3 plexi glass cube and my DBE Message from Earth, encapsulated into a scented clay cube (in collaboration with Mateja S. Dimic), will fly to the International Space Station on Feb. 19, 2022! Both will fly to this final frontier of human habitat space with Nanoracks aboard the Antares rocket within the framework of a Northrop Grumman Cygnus NG-17 resupply mission from NASA Flights Facility in Wallops Island, Virginia, USA.

Earthling Tattoo Seal and DBE Message from Earth will be placed within the MoonGallery’s 8x8 grid of 1 cm3 cells housing 64 physical artefacts and one engraved AR artwork. This event will mark the historical meeting point of the Moon Gallery, of which both Earthling Tattoo Seal and DBE Message from Earth are parts of it, and the cosmos.

MoonGallery Test Flight ready for launch to the ISS International Space Station

Bernard Foing, chairman of MoonGallery Foundation and of LUNEX Lunar Explorers, says: “ Reaching low Earth orbit on our way to the Moon is the first step in extending our cultural dialogue to space.”

“For this mission, we have collected art pieces that carry important values for humanity not only at this point on Earth but also for a future multi planetary society. The final artworks to be exhibited at the International Space Station will be the “pioneers” of the MoonGallery: our first pieces to go to space and to channel our values into the universe”, says the MoonGallery curator team.

After the exhibition, the gallery will be safely returned to Earth to prepare it for the next adventure: for the flight to the Moon, hopefully in 2025!

MoonGallery ISS integrated for Test Flight with Nanoracks

A number of MoonGallery artists and experts, including myself, will be present for a series of events in New-York (Feb. 16), Washington DC (Feb 18), Wallops Island launch base (Feb.19) to celebrate space, science, arts and astronauts. Other MoonGallery space artists will join the events virtually from all over the world.

In the meantime,

my Drops of Worlds... Worlds of Drops exhibition is still displayed at the Red Carpet Art Award Lichtraum in the Vienna's subway Opera - Karlsplatz - Ressel Park passage, overlooking the busy exit/entrance at Ressel park/Karlsplatz and the busy platforms of U4 line.

I am honored that my photo above was selected as the Photo of the Day at the MMC-RTV-SLO, portal of the Slovenian National TV on the occasion of the Slovenian culture day, Febr. 8th.

My Corona Rose, upgraded into Collective Corona Rose with a social action among Idrija lace makers between the first corona pandemic lockdown in early 2020, continues spreading hope from the wall of the magnificent St. Stephan's Cathedral in Vienna. Till today, over 38.000 people were enabled to be vaccinated against Covid 19 at this unique Cathedral, with Corona Rose functioning as an inspiration.

If you happen to be in Nova Gorica in Slovenia or in Gorizia at the Italian side of the state border passing through the city, kindly invited to the Gallery Gong, where my exhibition TRANSapPARENT has been prolonged till Feb. 18.
