Sound & Smoke, Schall & Rausch - the group exhibition curated by Florentina Welley is opened in Essinger Haus in Moedling since Saturday. It proposes that art is the link between metaphysics and spirituality - loosely based on Goethe’s Faust.

“How does art respond to daily images of war and violence? In uncertain times, hope grows in society that there is something else, something that science cannot prove, but that gives us strength and hope to overcome crises.

While it was once the polytheistic worldview in ancient times, our culture still reflects the longing for healing and protection: for something inexplicable that takes away our fears, accompanies us, and reveals perspectives that have been lost. These works by young artists contain hidden symbols, esoteric viewpoints or references to cultures that still celebrate the psychological function of art, “superstition” as a source of meaning.
