About the Event

Oracle, my art installation in series Kunst im Dom at the Klagenfurt Dom: Febr. 14 at 19.00, and Febr. 18 at 17.00,  or any day until March 30, 2024

After 2016, when my Collective heart, (spreading over 55 square meters of recycled lace assemblage) was chosen to mark the time of Lent in the famous Vienna Cathedral as the first Slovenian art work since centuries of this most famous Central European cathedral, I am now no less honored with the decision of the Klagenfurt Cathedral to choose, for the first time, the Slovene art installation for their Kunst in Dom series highlighting the time of Lent with my installation: „Oracle - a place inside you that knows... Are you Human“? Kindly invited to join me at the opening after the Holy Mass led by Slovenian Bishop Jožef Marketz on Wednesday, February 14 at 7 p.m., or at the presentation in the form of an artist talk on Sunday, February 18 at 5 p.m. The talk will be led by Peter Allmaier, the head of the Cathedral of Klagenfurt, the capital of Austrian state Carinthia, where many Slovenes have lived for centuries.

Eva Petrič: Oracle was (especially in Ancient Greece) on utterance, often ambiguous or obscure, conveyed by a priest or priestess at a shrine as the esponse of a god to an inquiry. Today, more than ever, in tmes of transhumanism, it s important to ask: "Are you human?", a question that can be asked of both a machine and human which concerns the need to be aware of hearing the inner voice - to be human

My intention is to awaken and bing the so-called inner voice closer to people through art so that it "touches" us and allows us to feel our human selves and in this way encourages us "to preserve as much as possible the phenomenon of what it means to be human, before we lose our sense of this and bring our human sensuality into another entity, into an artificial intetigence."

Eva Petrič, b. in Slovenia, lives in between New York City, Vienna and Ljubljana and Works in photography, video, sound, pertormance, art installations and literature. In New York, she is presented by Gallery Mourlot. She holds a BA in Psychology and Fine Art from Webster University Vienna and an MEA in New Media from Transart Insitute New York/Berlin/Danube University.

Her art has been shown in over 100 solo and 140 group exhibitions all over the world!
