About the Event

Feminism and the work of women artists for generations have presented distinct perspectives regarding the environment, inviting a more respectful coexistence with our natural surroundings and the resources and wisdom they offer. These concerns are ever more relevant today in the context of the crisis of climate change and the urgent need for alternatives to economic and political models based on the exploitation of both natural and human resources.  In this roundtable, three artists participating in “Off the Cloth”-- Eva Petrič, Isolde Kille, and Sandra Eula Lee--will address the ways in which their work takes up concerns with nature and the environment, and the ways in which this focus is tied to issues of gender and transdisciplinarity. The panel will be moderated by Karen Cordero Reiman, co-curator of “Off the Cloth”, and a scholar of feminist art and theory.  The event will also feature Eva Petrič's video-performance "On the Day of my Birth" created for World Water Day 2022 in Dubai.
