About the Event

I am extremely happy and honored that the famous historic Franciscan monastery at Kostanjevica in Nova Gorica is hosting my "Corona Rose no. 2 in 3 Movements, Coming Home" on the occasion of its venerable jubilee, the 400th anniversary of its foundation. In this monastery famous for Bourbon roses, the Corona Rose artwork will represent the 1st phase  of a three-year project in the public space of Nova Gorica, which will end with the finale in 2025 during GO 2025,  when Nova Gorica together with Gorizia in Italy, will be the European Capital of Culture. The project "Corona Rose in Post-Corona Hybrids" will be interactive - it will also involve locals and visitors, who are asked to contribute lace that they no longer need. Within the next two years, I plan to connect  all the donated laces at the workshops into a new artwork and a new story, thus providing the donated lace with new "life". I hope that this project will contribute to raising for the awareness of the value of cultural heritage and the possibilities  of its inclusion in contemporary life. I hope as well, that you will rummage through your homes and bring the laces that you no longer need to the monastery in Kostanjevica or send them there. Thank you and I hope to see you at the Franciscan Monastery in Kostanjevica, Nova Gorica, on Friday, March 24 at 8:00 p.m. Eva   Corona Rose no. 2 in 3 Movements was presented in Munich and Bern in 2021, and last year in Idrija, home of the members  of the experimental lace group, led by Marija Svetlik from the Lacemaking School of Idrija, who, during the Covid-19 pandemic,  interwove their worries and hopes into lace rose petals, which are now included into the Corona Rose among other laces  from various parts of the world.
