About the Event

If you happen to be in Slovenia this week or any time till the end of August, kindly invited to stop in Idrija, the unique historic town in the Idrijca valley in the heart of south-western part of Slovenia, known for its historic mine of quick silver and autochthonic lace making which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. On the occasion of the 40th international lace festival (https://www.festivalidrijskecipke.si/en/hello/ ) in Idrija, I have been invited to present two solo exhibitions there and to be the guest of honour at the Festival opening on the evening of  the 17th of June.

Artist Eva Petrič, after exhibiting her Corona Rose N.2 in 3 movements in Vienna, Munich, and Bern, brings it now to the place of its origin, to her home, to Idrija. In this monumental, over 20-square-meter large work, the artist "intertwined" lace from various parts of the world. She upgraded the whole assemblage with lace rose petals created in Idrija. These lace rose petals were designed in Idrija during a project taking placie at the very beginning of the coronavirus pandemics: members of the experimental Idrija lace group led by Maja Svetlik created the petals by capturing their feelings, anxiety, and hope that filled them during the first pandemic isolation.

It will remain on view till August 31.
