About the Event

If you happen to be in the vicinity of the National Park Brioni, at the legendary Brioni Islands  of the Adriatic sea this summer, please pay attention to my Current of Emotions, my interactive art installation at the St. Rochus Church, built over 500 years ago. The small church close to the port of Brioni was built in 1505, to stave off the great plague coming from Venice that killed the majority of the population of the Brioni islands at that time.

During the last two years the contemporary "plague" - the Covid 19 pandemics almost desolated this beautiful island. This summer, it seems that the normal current of tourists and other visitors is returning to it. My art installation contains "the shadows of all those who have ever visited or lived on the island of Brioni, leaving behind their mark in the form of their shadow, echoing their emotions, here for us to rediscover«…

I see the rich history of the island of Brioni, boasting with many remnants of Roman settlers, reflected in the richness of shadows as remnants of the emotions of various people who have lived or visited this island throughout its history.

I hope that these ‘shadows of emotions’  will catalyse in the viewers the emotions that trigger a connection in them with past times and past generations and with everything that also contributed to the current image of the island Brioni.

Behind the small church in its vicinity still grows the majestic 1600 years old olive tree, which is one of the oldest plants still living in all of the Mediterranean. Not far from it is the bay of Verige, bay of Chain, with well preserved remnants of beautiful Roman Villas, with preserved storages for olive oil and wine and other products from this naturally rich island.

You are kindly invited to visit the Brioni islands and experience their rich geological as well as cultural history and its beautiful and diverse flora and fauna, to experience the shadows and emotions of their past as well as current time.

My thanks to Ms. Mira Pavletic, the Head of the Department for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, National Park Brioni, for inviting me to exhibit my cycle of shadows Current from the Gr@y Matter - language of shadows series.

My thanks also to Veselko Baršić and to Valter from the National Park Brioni for their help in installing my images and their sound.

Kindly invited to explore the world of shadows of all those who have ever visited or lived on the island of Brioni, leaving behind their mark in the form of their shadow, echoing their emotions, here for us to rediscover«…
